Catherine Ashbrook Counselling & Therapy
Counselling for Adults in Chorley and Online
Life can feel too much when you are juggling lots of different things and you may feel as if you are weighed down by everything that you are carrying. Maybe this is putting you in a state of overwhelm. Maybe you are stressed, anxious or depressed.
What you might be experiencing
-
You feel exhausted.
-
You can’t think straight and simple tasks are a challenge.
-
You feel emotional and keep crying or losing your temper over small things.
-
You are overthinking and stuck in a cycle of negative thoughts and worry.
-
You find it difficult to feel joy.
-
You are tired of putting on a front for others.
I can provide you with a non-judgemental space and protected time where we can begin to unpack what you are carrying. I will work with you to make sense of how and why you are feeling the way that you are and work with you to find strategies to help you feel calmer and happier.
I offer a trauma-informed, neuro-affirming, sensorily-aware approach. Through the relationship that we build I will offer compassion, curiosity and support so that you can gain clarity, develop strategies for self-regulation and be supported to develop healthy boundaries.
The first session together (or the first few) is an opportunity for us to get to know each other as it would be with any new relationship. I will try to make you feel as comfortable as I can, and we will work together to figure out how to structure the session and subsequent sessions, so that therapy works best for you and your way of working. I will be keen to hear about your life journey so far in order to understand how your lived experiences have shaped you.
Sessions are 60 minutes long.
Next Steps
I offer a free 30 minute introductory call which can be over the phone or online. The call helps me to find out more about what is happening for you and gives you chance to find out more about me and how I work so that we can decide whether we think we would be a good fit to work together or not. There is no obligation from the call to begin therapy with me.
I would love to hear from you so please do get in touch so that we can schedule an initial call.
Counselling for Children in Chorley, Lancashire
I offer face to face child-centred, creative therapy for primary aged children.
When your child is experiencing difficulties, it can feel worrying and overwhelming. Trying to find the right support can feel like a daunting responsibility. I believe that counselling is one of the best forms of care we can give ourselves and our children and within the right environment it is possible to heal and grow from our experiences.
What your child might be experiencing
-
Your child may be overly anxious and worried.
-
Your child may become overwhelmed and find it difficult to regulate their emotions.
-
Your child may be experiencing difficulties at school and may be struggling to attend.
-
Your child may be experiencing difficulties with peers or friends.
I offer a trauma-informed, neuro-affirming, sensorily-aware approach.
I aim to provide an environment where your child is seen, heard and really feels listened to so that they can gain a better understanding of what’s happening for them and find some strategies that will help. I will offer warmth, compassion and honesty to support them along the way.
Child-centred, creative therapy allows children to explore thoughts, feelings and experiences in creative ways. I ensure that the physical environment contains a range of resources and toys which support different types of play; sensory, physical, exploratory, social and symbolic. This approach is important for children as they may not have the words to be able to talk about what is happening for them. Play can also support children by providing some removal from their experiences as it can add a layer of metaphor which can feel less intense and safer for a child trying to process what is happening to them.
Sessions are 50 minutes long.
Next Steps
I offer a free 30-45 minute introductory call which can be over the phone or online. This is with the parent(s) or carer(s) of the child. The call helps me to find out more about what is happening for your child and gives you chance to find out more about me and how I work so that we can decide whether we think I would be a good fit to work with your child or not. There is no obligation from the call to begin therapy with me.
