Catherine Ashbrook Counselling & Therapy
Meet Catherine Ashbrook
Accredited Integrative Psychotherapist based in Chorley
Human beings are at their optimum when they feel a sense of connection. As a relational therapist I will prioritise the therapeutic relationship between myself and you in order that the sense of connection between us is felt and provides a foundation for the work that we will do together.
What this looks like in practice is the provision of the right conditions for you to start to feel at ease. I will be clear about what you can expect on your therapeutic journey and my actions will match my words. My approach is trauma-informed, consent led, neuro-affirming and sensorily-aware.
You and your circumstances are unique and your sessions will be unique to you to reflect your specific needs. I will be alongside you offering support and compassion as we work together to help you make sense of what is happening to you.

My Experience
I work in private practice with children, young people and adults. I also work in educational settings. My passions include: relational trauma, childhood adversity, neurodivergence and the impact of chronic stress on the body and mind.
I worked for over two decades in the education sector in SEND, safeguarding and senior leader roles. I was a Headteacher for 6 years. Much of my work in the education sector (then and now) involves supporting children and young people with additional needs and also supporting their families and carers to support them.
As a therapist: I have worked as a trauma-informed therapist for a charity supporting men harmed by sexual violence, I have worked therapeutically within the criminal justice system and I have supported individuals through counselling who are in unpaid caring roles.
